The Perfect Pineapple Report 2022: Week 7

  • A few scattered showers during the week registered 18.2 mm (3/4 inch) of rainfall. January has been one of the driest months in the last 5 years:

  • The average minimum temperature increased slightly to 20.6 Celsius degrees  (69.1°F),but we still had several nights with temperatures below 20°C (68°F).
  • The mean air temperature was 25.6°C (78°F); soil temperature reached 26.3°C (79.3°F).
  • Solar radiation ranged from moderate to high with some risk of sunburn and “corky” fruits.
  • Relative humidity rose to 81.1%, still low for tropical conditions.
  • Harvest age was quite variable this week as farms continue to gradually increase harvest age
    • 7.2% harvested at 19 WAF
    • 2.8% harvested at 22 WAF
    • 63.3% harvested at 20 WAF
    • 26.6% harvested at 21 WAF.
  • Covid cases rose very little (0.62%) this week and authorities predict a decline in coming weeks
