While much of the east coast anxiously watched and waited to see what Hurricane Erika might do, down on the farm we were quite satisfied with the climatic relief a hurricane in the Atlantic might provide us. Hurricane Erika seems to have pulled all the humidity from our region and left us pretty…dry. It seems like ages since we have been able to even utter the word!
The dry spell, expected to carry on through the beginning of next week, allowed us to continue playing catch up with most of our husbandry practices from the previous week. And, it especially allowed us to make significant advances in soil preparation to keep our planting schedule on track.
