2015: Week 16 at the Source (Week 18 in the market)

Survey says…El Niño year! Officially declared an El Niño year this week, dramatic and unexpected change in rainfall patterns were observed in Week 16. Although not detrimental to the harvest, such abrupt spurts of rain may be seen in the weeks ahead. However, increases in air temperature mark the end of cold front threats and puts our minds at ease.

Fruit volume continues to rise as we prepare for those plants reaching natural fruiting in the weeks to come. This more mature fruit, located along the edges of the plantation, makes for 2% of the total sampled harvest and was picked at 21 Weeks After Flowering (WAF). Ninety-one percent of our fruit was harvested at 22 WAF, while the remaining 7% of fruit was delayed and cut at 23 WAF.
