2015: Week 27 at the Source (Week 29 in the market)

Good news: there has been a slight reprieve in the rainy conditions of late. Although another heavy week of rainfall (nearly 102 mm, 4 inches), there has been some (sun) light at the end of this weather tunnel. For the latter half of the week the rains slowed down and quality began to significantly improve!

All factors, including translucency, firmness and – most importantly – flavor and aroma have increased in quality. All harvesting patterns have been near identical to last week, with our continued harvest of NDF fruit without any significant quality issues.

Yet, even with the slight decrease in precipitation, land preparation for future plantings is at a standstill. We are using up the inventory of prepared land and will need a turn in the weather to be able to keep our planting schedule. What does this mean for the remainder of the year?  Click here to receive this week’s full industry report and find out
