The Perfect Pineapple Report 2020: Week 19

  • Springtime brings some of the best climatic conditions to our region:
    • A light drizzle or two this week accumulated 6.1 mm (1/4th of an inch) of precipitation
    • The minimum air temperature declined 1ºC (1.8ºF)
    • The average remained stable at 26.7ºC (80ºF)
  • Farms implemented slight harvest age reduction
    • Small amounts of fruit at 20 WAF (0.7%) and even  at 19 WAF (2.3%)
    • The majority (56.4%) harvested at 21 WAF
    • Balance (40.5%) at 22 WAF
  • Crownless category showing slight increase in volume to 7% as processors and foodservice resume operations
  • Average brix reading at 15.5º and less than 2% below 13.5º; doesn’t get better!
