The Perfect Pineapple Report 2020: Week 40

  • September is usually one of the driest months of the year and this week was true to form.
    • Our pluviometer  barely recorded 2.8 mm (1/10th of an inch) of precipitation
    • Air and soil temperatures declined slightly
    • Overcast skies  resulted  in moderate to low Solar radiation.
  • Our fruit signaled and  farm management implemented  harvest age increase
    • 66% harvested at 21 weeks after forcing (WAF)
    • 34 % harvested at 20 WAF
    • Complete reversal from prior week’s metrics – swift management decision making and implementation!
  • Sugar content metrics stable and with reduced  deviation than prior week (< 1.0 STD), signaling consistency in taste and aroma
  • External color also improving  with much less color “0”
  • New coronavirus cases seem to have plateaued around 8.5k new cases per week during the last 3 weeks.
