The Perfect Pineapple Report 2021: Week 2

  • The “cold front” that rolled through the region brought overcast days and rainfall:
    • The rain gauge recorded 85.5 mm – 3,4 inches of precipitation
    • The minimum air temperature reached 21,2 °C (70,2°F)
    • The average air temperature declined slightly to 25,1°C (77,2 °F)
    • Soil temperature fell to 25,6°C (78,1°F). 
    • Relative humidity rose to 86,2%. 
  • The farms are holding steady on their harvest strategy – 77.5% of the fruit was harvested at 20 WAF and the balance at 21 WAF
  • Even with a large percentage of fruit harvested at 20 WAF, the sugar content improved
    • The amount of fruit with Brix content below 13,5 dropped by more than  half to 6,4 %
    • Almost 60% was within  the benchmark (13,5 – 15.5 degrees Brix)
    • Higher than 15,5  degrees Brix reached  33,9 %
  • External color also improved
  • Field sampling for natural flowering incidence (NDF) is underway and incidence is still insignificant
  • New Coronavirus  report – 6,515 new cases (+3.9%)
