- As of this writing, a trucker strike has paralyzed transport to and from the Atlantic side port of Limon. Truckers are protesting that drivers from other countries delivering cargo to Costa Rican ports extend their stay illegally and take away business from local drivers. Students are supporting the movement in an effort to oust the Minister of Education. Negotiations at the Presidential level are taking place in order to restore order.
