  • Drier than normal conditions carried into the New Year
    • Light showers deposited 27,4 mm (1,1 inches) of rainfall
    • All chores are up to date, including land prep
  • Air temperatures continued to drop; several nights with temperatures below 20 Celsius (68°F.)
    • The average minimum air temperature was 20,4°C (68,6°F)
    • Average was 25,2°C (78,3°F)
    • Soil temperature remained at 25,9°C (78,7°F)
    • Solar radiation was moderate
  • Farms implemented aggressive reduction in harvest age – 97% of the week’s harvest was 19 WAF.
    • As a result, the percentage of fruit with brix > 15.5 dropped to 24.9%;
  • Sugar content follows
    • Max.= 18,0;  Average = 14,9;  Min. = 13,1;  Below 13,5= 9 %;  Between 13,5 – 15.5 = 66,1 %;  Higher than 15,5 = 24,9 %;   STDEV ranged from 0,95 to 1,19
  • External color and firmness of the pulp are the biggest challenges we face  
  • Covid 19 infections continue to rise –  15.285 new cases reported – 360% increase from previous week. Our farms continue to be free of new cases – only one was reported this week. Packing plant continues Covid 19 free.
