The Perfect Pineapple Report 2022: Week 9

  • Climatic conditions continued to change and brought a significant increase in precipitation and a drop in  temperatures
    • 72 mm – 2,8 inches of total rainfall were recorded
    • The average minimum temperature was 20.6 º C (69.2°F)
    • Again we had one night with the minimum temperature below 20°C (68°F)
    • The average air temperature was 24.7°C (76.4°F)
    • Soil temperature dropped slightly to 26.3°C (79.3°F)
    • Solar radiation varied from moderate to low with some overcast days.
    • Relative humidity
  • All chores on schedule but soil preparation was interrupted
  • Harvest age basically unchanged
  • Sugar content stable and at an excellent level
  • External color decreased
  • Pulp firmness and translucency metric (internal maturity) stable and good
  • Covid cases continue to decline (-27%)
  • Climate is the main challenge to quality pineapple production
