As COVID-19 swept across the globe, farms, facilities, and producers were forced to enact swift changes to protect their employees and their businesses. In Costa Rica, we looked for ways to maintain production safely and efficiently, while prioritizing the health of both their people and their community. Although initial concerns about the virus have passed, we continue to focus on wellbeing, looking to how the changes implemented can help improve employee experience in the long-term too.

From Scholarships to Business Opportunities, The Fructus Foundation is Supporting Our Costa Rican Community
As a company, one of our core values is giving back. We’re always looking for new ways to support our community through both sustainability efforts and social programs. That’s why we’re proud to be long-time partners of The Fructus Foundation, or Fundación Fruktus, a local charity established in Costa Rica. This group works to implement a wide variety of programs in the country, from developing infrastructure to providing scholarships to supporting local low-income families. Through their initiatives, they seek to build and support sustainable communities while creating opportunities for the future. Chestnut Hill Farms Supports Cycling Team to help Raise Funds for Seriously Ill Children
Chestnut Hill Farms is proud to sponsor Team Rynkeby, a Nordic charity cycling team that cycles to Paris to raise money for seriously ill children each summer. We decided to sponsor Team Rynkeby because we feel it is appropriate to expand our social responsibility projects to the areas where our fruit is shipped, and are proud to support their effort.
Team Rynkeby comprises 1,900 cyclists and 450 volunteers, divided into 48 local teams in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, the Faroe Islands and Iceland. Team members are selected from thousands of applicants, who have completed the application form on the Team Rynkeby website. For almost a whole year participants must not only prepare themselves for the 1,200 kilometre trip to Paris but they are also obliged to do what they can to raise money for children with critical illnesses.
In 2017 Team Rynkeby donated EUR 8.8 million to organizations that help children with critical illnesses.
